| It's been six five months since the wedding. Hurrah. Also, I can't count.
Everyone's question for the last six months has been, 'So, how does it feel to be married?'
The answer?
It feels great. | |

| Me: I'm going to have an omelet for lunch. *heads to cooker holding eggs in one hand and cheese in the other* ybunny: *goes in for a kiss, suddenly* Me: Don't make me drop my eggs! ybunny: ... Me: ... *hilarity* We're pretty tired. Sigh. | |

| Two years ago last Friday, ybunny proposed to me. In 36 days, he'll marry me. We'll be together for three weeks during the wedding and honeymoon. This is a long stretch. We've not had very much time together during the last year. One of my favorite poems reminds me of us: The Starred CoverletA difficult achievement for true lovers Is to lie mute, without embrace or kiss, Without a rustle or a smothered sigh, Basking each in the other's glory. Let us not undervalue lips or arms As reassurances of constancy, Or speech as necessary communication When troubled heart go groping through the dusk; Yet lovers who have leaned this last refinement - To lie apart, yet sleep and dream together Motionless under their starred coverlet - Crown love with wreaths of myrtle. | Our building was broken into last night.
Good thing we live on the 3rd floor as I was completely dead asleep yestere'en.
Only one flat seems to have things missing, but the police have all of us checking to make sure.
They took fingerprints this afternoon, apparently. (Or it could have been this morning.)

| percible graciously came out and met me for an excursion to ASDA. The trip was mostly to get KitKats for mhaithaca, but I also needed the G-man to certify that I am who I say I am to the DVLA (aka the UK version of the DMV). The DVLA is no faster, understandable, or user friendly than the DMV. Plus, I had to send them my passport. *hyperventilates* Hopefully, in two weeks time, I will have a provisional license. I'm highly amused that I'm back to the equivalent of a learner's permit after 11 years of driving. ybunny read me most of the Driving Code while we drove from Aberdeen and back via Huntly, Banff, and Peterhead. So, as soon as the provisional license comes back, I'm taking the theory test. To be followed quickly by the practical test, sounds like most people take it at least twice so I'm happy to be starting sooner rather than later. | |

| Well, ybunny and I have spent the last four days exploring more of Scotland. We went south first, only saw one touristy thing: the Wallace Memorial Monument. The next day, we went for a sunset/twilight tour of south/west Aberdeen. We saw Cults, Maryculter, Peterculter, and plain ole Culter. Very exciting. We stopped off a Crathes Castle and walked around the grounds. On Sabbath afternoon, after a chance meeting with Sion and Emma (and the promise of a meeting with the Rabbi on Monday evening), we set off for Larkhall. Tom showed me around his childhood town. We also walked around the grounds of the estate of the former Lords Hamilton. I can't remember how to spell, nor can I pronounce the name of the place. Today, we drove north to Huntly. The castle was nice, nice enough for us to ignore the rain. We continued on to Banff and then drove back to Aberdeen via the Coastal Tourist Trail. We didn't stop at any more sites, but we did have tea at the Scottish Lighthouse Museum (actually just needed the toilet, but felt back leaving without at least buying a cuppa). Tomorrow, we will cut the rest of the fireplace tiles and then I'll return the car. Right now, we're rewarding our travels with pizza and pancakes. Pizza because it was planned and pancakes because we're watching Something's Gotta Give and they keep talking about pancakes. We figured, we have the dry ingredients, the eggs, some strawberries, and icing sugar, so hurrah, pancakes! | |

| Well, my migraine is mostly gone. I'm wondering if it came on because I closed the window to go to bed and I'd completed the oil based painting earlier in the day. The fumes were gone, I thought...but maybe there were some still there.
It's taken an entire bucket of paint (this lot is waterbased) to do the hallway. Which is nuts, because it's a tiny hallway. But, the wallpaper the previous tenants used is textured. I suppose I should have torn it down, but so far pulling down the wallpaper in this flat has been an exercise in disaster as it is papered directly onto the sheetrock/whatever that is under there.
Here's a diy hint. ALWAYS paint before wallpapering. You'll be glad you did when it is time to pull it down.
So, I'm taking a break in between buckets...I have a bunch more to do.
Plus, I'm making a casserole to take to potluck tomorrow.
Better wash my hands between the two. :D

| TalkTalk is in my bad books. Though, I find it amusing that the song they play during hold has the chorus 'We've Got to Get It Together'. Yeah, TalkTalk. Get it together. | |
|
| Well, ybunny will return from his 4 day minibreak in Angola soon enough. Oh, they are so mixed up sometimes in the oil fields. :) | |
|
| It is of no little amazement to me that Tom loves me...even when I'm whiney, lazy, or messy. Love you, dear. | |
|
| Well, I won't be seeing ybunny for Christmas or New Year's. It looks likely that I'll be sent back just as you leave the country and will have to go on to another job before Christmas, which will mean that I'll be away over New Year's as well.Bah, humbug. | |
|
| Well, I've had a few visitors today. Nice of everyone to remember Tom's birthday. Unfortunate that I'm the only one that gets to benefit from that.
Oh, and to the last visitor...I'm a hopeless romantic but I think that, yes, everything happens for a reason. :)
|
| I miss central heating. :( | |
|
| Turns out the box marked 'XMASS' contains some of the most hideous Christmas decorations evah. Incidentally, I really do love ybunny. His spelling will keep me amused for the rest of our lives, nevertheless. | |

| Well, I've not got anything accomplished today that I wanted to accomplish. That's not to say I've not accomplished anything, I have. 1. Moved current TV off TV stand, moved TV stand into kitchen (we're going to use it as a pantry-ish thing.) 2. Moved bureau that was in the kitchen into the spare room. 3. Set up Whitefish (the mac mini) in the living room. 4. Remembered that I have to connect Whitefish to the amplifier if we intend to have sound as well as picture. 5. Moved monitor through from the PC so I could see what I was doing as I muddled about. 6. Realized that I didn't know the password to Whitefish. (Thank goodness that percible remembered ybunny's penchant for capitalization.) 7. Decided that two sets of knives in the kitchen is more than a bit redundant, moved good knives onto magnetic strip. 8. Realized that there is now room on the counter. Hurrah. 9. Discovered that I've really mucked up the cord situation with the PC. 10. View the changes and try to visualize the new TV as it will sit above the hearth. Ah, accomplishments. | |
|
| Well, ybunny's off to Brazil again. | |
|
| Oh, before I write about the DIY, this story is just...whoa. The phrase 'whole lotta shakin' goin' on' springs to mind. Ahem. ( We're moving the room around in a circle! )The hardest part is moving the radiator. ybunny and I unscrewed it from its usual location. He is currently trying to drop the wire down the wall where it will be connected to power. I just finished painting the spot where the radiator had been. Without any further complications, we should have a redone living room by this evening. Then, shortly, we will have a new TV and table. Woo. | |
|
| Here's the icons you wanted, ybunny. | |
|
| Tom just told me 'you're a big sack of sexy potatoes'.
Well...yay. | |
|
| Well, I decided I needed some brighter colors for my journal. They are vaguely the colors of my perhaps-one-day-if-I'm-a-very-good-girl living room. I slept far too much this weekend, but yet I'm still horribly tired. We had a fiasco involving a lingerie party earlier that caused me to miss out talking to ybunny before he wandered off to bed. I took my bike in today to get a tuneup. I don't have too much longer to live in this area, but I'd like to get used to riding a bike again since while riding in Aberdeen I managed to fall off spectacularly. It's going to cost about $100, but I'd rather they fixed the tires/brakes/gears/chain than me doing it. It's really not something I'm prepared to do at present. I've named my iPod Shuffle 'Aliquantulus'. Off to find food. | |

| Monday: Sleep! Yay for sleep. Got up and fooled around reading and thinking about going back to sleep. Tom brought me breakfast in bed. Mmm. We decided to try to find some bedside tables. Well, we found some. But, the one that we agreed on was £315, on sale for £265. Eep. We continued down Holburn St. to B&Q. We found something for £40 there, but didn't end up buying them just then. We went over to ASDA to get some bread (and some gingerbread and some creme eggs and some crisps...) and ended up leaving at the same time as percible and shineyquarter. They graciously offered to have us for supper, but we opted to go on home to make Yorkshire pudding. As we started home from the bus stop, we realized that we'd forgotten the most important thing: pans to make the puddings in. Ach. So, we nipped into Auragia, a tapas bar, and had some tortilla espanola and paella vegetal. It was quite good, but full of saffron. We both went home with yellow tongues. Heh. At home we spent the evening cuddling and watching Red Dwarf. Life is good. Tuesday: We spent some time this morning looking at academic programs online in Aberdeen. Went over to Robert Gordon's later on and asked for some information on those: no international applications are being accepted. F-ck. We came home via souvenirs for redthought and golfbisquit. I'm packing just now. We'll go and get veggie burgers and buns to take over to Seaton with us. I'm hoping for a good evening. We have an early flight in the morning. More sigh. | |

| Wednesday: Spent the morning typing up a research proposal for the University of Aberdeen. (They'd not asked for one originally, so I'm not sure if they changed the requirements or if they are indeed interested. Hard to say.) Finished that headache about 12:15 or so. Feels like a wasted morning a bit.
Took the bus down to Duthie Park. Walked around the winter gardens some, they are very lovely. I'd like to see the Rose Mountain in bloom sometime, guess that's a reason to come back to Aberdeen. ;)
We walked around the river by the daffodils and headed over to ASDA. We got a few bit of this and that, but the best thing so far are the potato scones! Yay!
When we got back, we put away all the shopping. We'd gotten a new shower curtain and a bin for the kitchen and those are in place, but we didn't get the voile curtains/sheers for the window up yet.
That was the day, pretty much.
Thursday: Got up this morning to go over to the university. We'll just say that meeting up with them probably went okay from anyone else's perspective, but from mine it was a little bit of anxiety that could have been done without.
We had biked over after Tom fixed the tyre on the bike. However, just after knocking Avi up rather abruptly, I managed to break the chain on the bike, so we walked the over to Edinburgh Bicycle Company and left it there to get the chain fixed.
We'll see Constantine later on today with Avi and Gordon. Hopefully my knees will have stopped hurting by then. (I fell off the bike as well. Swell.)
Tonight, we might meet up with some people. We'll see.
That's all she wrote. | |

| ybunny didn't go to the rig today! :) I have keys! ;) We have tons of Tunnocks! :p I have 600 new songs! :D | |
|
| I have the word 'tocopherol' stuck in my head. Not a clue what that is.* Any scientist types know? |
