As I mentioned in an earlier post, the fiance and I went to Chi
for my birthday.
I'm surprised that the restaurant is still in business to be honest, because you could live in Aberdeen for ages and not know that it is there. It's tucked away in the Academy shopping centre, not only out of the way, but also on the 1st floor.*
Nevertheless, I'd noticed it out of the corner of my eye while out one night with percible
, and Jayne

Thai Red Curry
First off, I have to rave about the red curry. It was fantastic. We did everything but lick the spoon.** The red curry was definitely the high point of the meal.
The Szechuan tofu was okay, but nothing special.
We both liked the tempura, but I think I'd get the vegetable over the asparagus given the option. While okay, the coating didn't do anything for the taste of the asparagus.
The service was friendly and fast, I have no complaints about anything that matters.
I was surprised to see that they decorated the appetizer plates with orchids. Since the restaurants theme seems to be purple, this fitted nicely. I think they should retire the orchids after they begin to wilt, though. Mine looked like it had done a shift at the docks before arriving on my plate.
On a related note, we're having red curry for supper tonight as I've decided to try making it at home. drjoan
makes an excellent version, so I'm taking her recipe for a spin.
*In the British version of 1st floor, that is.
** I say we didn't because after I licked the spoon, ybunny didn't see the point. :)
