Uphill from here?

This week has been an absolute rush! I thought that things would calm down after the theology conference colloquium last week. Wrong, wrong, wrong.

I did get back on schedule with one thing: I spent the afternoon with C and the girls.

It was a lovely day out in Balmedie.

Points of interest
- the sister learned to say 'recalcitrant', 'variegated', 'tintinnabulation', and 'harmonica' today.
- the goddaughter can now say 'Tom'. Well, actually, she say 'Thom'. You can definitely hear the 'h'.
- I mowed the lawn. Can't let C do it in her condition and A is gone to the rig unexpectedly.
- I must learn to make cauliflower cheese. Delightful.

Tomorrow I will see Pirates 3, pack for Cornwall, and install a cat flap.

cauliflower cheese??
is it just because i am so challenged in the kitchen that i've never heard of this before? :)

I'd not had it until I met C.

It's just a cheese sause over boiled cauliflower.

I just don't know how to make the cheese sauce as yet. :)

I hate making cheese sauce, I get annoyed when it doesn't thicken due to roux errors.

My girlfriend makes the best cheese sauce ever, rivalling(and beating) my mums. the trick is to keep stirring, it takes at least ten minutes but keep stirring all the time over a not too hot heat. Butter, cornflour, stir stir stir then milk, stir stir stir stir stir until it thickens(it seems to take ages then BANG - it's thick(er).) Take it of the heat and, still stirring, add the grated cheese.

Over pasta it's superb as well.

That seems to be the key to risotto as well.

Bloody nuisance, but worth the effort. :)

A is gone to the rig unexpectedly

Oh, so that's why my birthday communication attempts went astray.
