Food Friday: In (Semi-) Abstentia

We're back from Touring the Americans Around Scotland.

This is sortof a driveby posting before we leave on honeymoon Sunday morning.

We have all sorts of bits and pieces to sort out before leaving, so this is a half-arsed version of FF.

We'll be in Venice and Rome during the honeymoon...and we know that there are really great places to eat.

We know the general rule: don't eat in right next to the touristy places.

However, as I've been to Italy twice before, I know that you can walk down tons of sidestreets and completely miss lots of good restaurants.

Anyone have suggestions for restaurants in Venice/Rome?

There will be restaurant reviews when I return. :)

Have I missed a post about the wedding? Congratualtions anyway! Hope it was beautiful and everything you wanted it to be!

Have never been to Italy, but it's top of my places to go.
Have a fabulous time!

As far as Rome goes, I think it's tough to go wrong. Honestly. Same goes for Venice, but if you're looking to get a little bit off the beaten path, I HIGHLY recommend going to the Dorsoduro part of down. It's not heaving with tourists, the shops have nicer things for cheaper prices, and the food is fantastic. There's a bakery along the main road in that section (which of course escapes my name right now) that has all different kinds of breads with all different crazy flavors. And not everyone there speaks English, which you KNOW is a good sign. :)

Have an awesome time! I heart Italy.

Cheers. We'll check out the Dorsoduro.

There's a GREAT Gelato place near the Pantheon. It's been a while since I was there, but I'll try to give some directions.

Walk across the Pantheon Square away from the Pantheon. At the top there is a street to the left. The restaurant is down there, on your right hand side.

I'm pretty sure these are accurate.

Have fun!

I have a pretty good idea of what you mean. I got lost many a time near the Pantheon.

And, mmmm...gelato. :)
