Founder's Day

We are returned from the US.

Well, we've been back since Tuesday, but I've been hit hard with the jet lag and feel like something scraped off a shoe.

Today was my first Sunday back at chapel choir.

Some date is commemorated at the university for 10 February. I'm not sure if it's the day the foundations were laid or the first student started or William Elphinstone took a walk or what.

Good stuff today, luckily all things I'd sung before but one.
Zadok the Priest - Händel
Gloria from Gloria - Vivaldi
and
Commemoramus - Williams (composed for the occasion)

Supposedly the Lord Provost was at the service, but I didn't see him.
I did see the Bishop of the Aberdeen Diocese as well as the Moderator for the Church of Scotland.

Afterwards, they'd laid on canapés for us in the Linklater rooms. Most were meatsome, but the bruscetta with goats cheese, tomato salsa and spring onions was delicious.

Williams as in Ralph Vaughan? Sounds like a great set for a Sunday morning. :)

Hiyea! How was the snow for you, or at the least how was the impact of all that snow elsewhere on your travel?

Not much snow, unfortunately. We only got a very small amount in the mountains and some ice in Virginia while driving back from DC.

i've only once had jetlag so far - when i got back from mexico. but it hit me really hard. felt it for almost a whole week and was useless at work.

BUT i love saying i have jetlag after a holiday in Ireland or in the UK. just to irritate people. cause most of them go *awwwww, sure you have, poor you*. and then come to me an hour later saying... *waitamoment... Ireland?* and i'm like *yeah, you know, that one hour time difference is killing me*. :D
